Thepaperwork is a free set of tools for the everyday paperwork of PDFs and photos — merging, splitting, compressing, signing, resizing, and everything in between.
Why Thepaperwork exists
Most online file tools ask you to upload your document to a server, wait in a queue, then download the result — trusting a stranger's server with whatever was in that file. Thepaperwork works differently: every tool runs as JavaScript inside your own browser. Your file is read, edited, and rebuilt on your device. It never gets sent anywhere to be processed.
How we decide what to build
Every tool in the docket is either fully working or clearly marked “coming soon” — we don't ship a tool that quietly produces a worse result than it promises. Real password encryption, AI upscaling, and full Office-format conversion all need heavier engines than a browser tab can carry well, so rather than fake them, we've left them out until they can be done properly.
Who's behind it
Thepaperwork is built and maintained by a small team who'd rather ship a few tools that work every time than a long list that works sometimes. If you run into something that doesn't, tell us — that's the fastest way it gets fixed.
